AEGIS by APEX Technology is a premium, superhydrophobic ceramic coating, enriched with Kevlar® particles, carbon nanotubes, and nanoceramic particles, and stabilized with UV filters and adhesion promoters. Application Instructions
- Surface Preparation
The surface must be fully prepared before applying the coating.
First, perform polishing to remove micro-scratches, oxidation, and paint imperfections. Since the coating “locks in” the condition of the surface, the final appearance depends entirely on proper preparation.
After polishing, use APEX Technology Prime + Prep – a specialized degreaser and cleaner that removes oil residues from polishing compounds and prepares the surface for optimal bonding.
The surface must be dry, dust-free, and cool to the touch.
- Coating Application
Shake the bottle well before use.
Apply a small amount of coating onto the supplied applicator.
Work in small sections (approx. 50 × 50 cm), using even cross-hatch movements.
- Reaction Time
Drying time depends on room temperature and humidity.
After application, typically wait about 1–2 minutes, but the time may be shorter or longer depending on conditions.
The coating is ready to be wiped when the surface begins to look as if it has “sweated” – with small droplets or dots appearing. This is the sign to start wiping.
- Wiping and Leveling
First, wipe the surface with a short-pile microfiber towel (Pearl type) to remove the initial layer of coating and any streaks.
Then use a clean, long-pile microfiber towel (min. 400 GSM) for final leveling and a flawless finish.
This ensures there are no “high spots” or coating residues left behind, which would otherwise cure permanently.
- Curing Time
Keep the surface free from water contact for at least 24 hours.
During this period, protect the vehicle from moisture, dust, and rain.
Full chemical bonding of the coating is achieved after 12 hours under optimal conditions (10–30 °C, relative humidity 30–80%).
- Consumption and Layers
Average consumption:
2–5 ml/m² for painted surfaces
1–10 ml/m² for plastics
2–15 ml/m² for composites
For an SUV-sized vehicle, approx. 15–20 ml is sufficient.
Warnings
Do not apply on hot surfaces or under direct sunlight.
Incorrectly applied coating cannot be removed without mechanical treatment (sanding/polishing).
